A Message from Tom and Dan:
A Fun Filled Farewell Concert with Wind Symphony I
Early on when they discussed retiring, Dan Peterson and Tom Trimborn mutually decided that the very best way to celebrate would be through music because music best expresses things in notes what words simply cannot.
Tom’s portion of the concert will feature his major instrument, the trombone, in two of his own arrangements. In addition, works by his favorite composers Leonard Bernstein, John Williams, and John Philip Sousa relate not only to the music he loves but the courses he taught and his interests outside of his career as a music educator.
Dan’s portion of the concert will highlight works representing his wide range of engaging music including a rousing overture by Joseph Wilcox Jenkins, soloists playing Francois Borne’s variations on themes by Georges Bizet and the virtuosic jazz licks of Jimmy Dorsey, and the art of the dance as composed by Dmitri Shostakovich.
This will be a fun concert to enjoy here on campus or online as Dan and Tom say farewell each in their own way…
Ta-Da! Carry On!
